“We were very lucky that Hong Kong was the battleground for our confrontation with the local postal authority when it tried to stop DHL, a new threat to its monopoly. Had it been in Japan, Korea, or Taiwan, places where the governments consistently influence the legal agenda, it was highly unlikely that our startup could have survived a battle against a government agency. In Hong Kong, at least we had a fighting chance to make our case. After making our case, and winning, we could then build on that precedent for other places.”
