ONLY ONE YOU by Jim Collins

“I think a third thing that I learned from my early mentors and really recognized in Frances is the idea of feeling very comfortable that everything you say and everything you do could be put on full public display, and you'd be okay with it. That you don't have a private self and a public self in terms of your basic behavior. You try not to. You don't have like an, ‘Okay I'm mean in private, but nice in public.’ No, no.

There can't be two yous. There can only be one you, and whatever that is, it has to be what it is, and this idea that your essential integrity is the deep consistency of what you are—in private and in public—to the very best of your human frailties, I think I recognize in Frances that. It's something I value and therefore want to aspire to be like I believe she is. I've never seen her be different things in different situations—and that is something that is quite admirable.”
