HAIER CEO ZHANG RUIMIN by E.H. Edersheim

“In my conversations with Peter Drucker, he emphasized the organization as an instrument of human achievement, human growth and human fulfillment.

In my conversations with Zhang Ruimin, CEO of Haier, I thought he was finishing a sentence Peter had started, when he said:

‘It does little good to formulate a brilliant competitive strategy unless we include the people inside the organization who must carry it out and the customers and the community who will benefit. We must make inclusion and participation top priorities for everything we do.’

One way Haier does this, is with a book of Pictures and Words composed by their employees. Each year, they publish a book of comics drawn by employees. The drawings indicate how much the culture and values are part of every employee.

They keep ideas and commitments alive.”
