“Frances is an extraordinary person. She's a marvelous friend. She's incredibly thoughtful. She remembers everything about you. I don't think I have ever seen Frances interact with somebody where she hasn't got a gift for them, and a very appropriate and personal gift. So even if I didn't share her view of the world, I would be thrilled to be her friend—and she's a lot of fun.

That's not true of most people: fun, thoughtful, self-effacing, so I'm glad to be Frances' friend, but fundamentally, I share her view that different kinds of organizations can contribute in different ways to society and that thinking about how to manage those organizations and publicizing the important examples, whether it be the military or the Girl Scouts, whatever it is, that that is a fundamentally important thing to do to the development of our society.”
