JC: Why at the time of life that you were at, when you could have kind of relaxed, did you take on the burden of the Girl Scouts?

FH: Burden? Don’t be ridiculous—remarkable, most remarkable organization in the world; most remarkable people, and opportunity that had never been there before and everything called to us, rapidly changing demographics, long list. So it was the most—I did not apply for the job, I found myself in it. Someone opened the door and pushed me through, so obviously, I don’t know anything about career planning or long-range planning. No, it was the perfect organization and it needed to take the lead right into the future.
