“They start out by asking, ‘What needs to be done?”

“You know, there is an enormous interest in leadership today, and I am not overly impressed, because I worked with leaders for 60 years, and no two are alike. The only thing they all have in common is that they don’t start out by asking, ‘What do I want to do?’ They start out by asking, ‘What needs to be done?’ They are focused on results and on effectiveness. And then they can answer the question, ‘What should my contribution be? What should my results be? Where do I belong?’ They can place themselves.”
