APPETITE FOR LEARNING by ThEME

Warren Bennis: There is an old Japanese saying: “none of us is as smart as all of us”. So you are still in position of basic humility, the change is going on. I really go nuts sometimes thinking about the changes going on, that I have got to learn if I want to be able to teach 19- and 20-year-old kids or younger or older people. Unless I keep my eyebrows raised in curiosity, I don’t think I can continue teaching. That won’t lead to anything.

Frances R. Hesselbein: Learning is an essential part of the journey to leadership and so, wherever you are in the world, just because I am in the position of president and I have six vice-presidents, we have achieved, and now we will just rest. Now we have this passionate a) appreciation, but b) how do we build total organization into a learning organization? So everyone is on the journey to leadership, not a favored few. It’s amazing what can happen in any organization when you offer learning opportunities to people at every level.
