“I would say the first and most important thing to say is. . .”

“I would say the first and most important thing to say is that society will be more important than economy. The last, make it 50 years, one could take society more or less for granted and it was the economy stupid; it will be the society stupid.

Increasingly power will shift to older people partly because of their numbers and partly because they are no longer yesterday. They represent already the new population.

You have to start out with the assumption that you compete globally, even though you market only locally. And that the customer doesn’t care anymore; the customer is not distance conscious.

And now we have another transformation in which the shift is from control by ownership to control by strategy, with the growth being increasingly through alliances and joint ventures and minority partnerships and outsourcing.”
