CHANGE LEADER by Regina Herzlinger

“[Training the Girl Scout leaders in management at Harvard] was the first—among the first responsibilities that I had to manage an educational program and it was—initially I viewed it as a managerial program. I take what I do very seriously, I wanted it to be very successful. But with time I thought, wow, this is a huge deal and so it enabled me to think that I could be someone who enabled major changes in our society. And it, in part, gave me the confidence to do what I've tried to do in healthcare, and the kind of substantial changes that I've tried to affect in our healthcare system.” Comment by ThEME: Being asked to run the training program for the Girl Scout Leaders at Harvard didn't seem like a large task to Regina, but once she started doing it, she realized how much it meant to the Girl Scouts and the Country. It was this realization that gave her a sense of how much she could accomplish, which propelled her later work in health care.
